Sr Natl Baseball: Odisha eves draw opening game

Odisha women were held to a 2-2 draw by Maharashtra in their opening league match of the 31st Senior National Baseball Championship at Satyabrata Stadium here today. Karnataka women dominated the day, posting two wins, while Haryana, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh and Delhi registered one apiece.

In the men’s league, Punjab and Uttarakhand won two games each, while Chandigarh, Andhra Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh won one apiece. The championship was inaugurated by Odisha State Rural Development Depatment Principal Secretary Madhusudan Padhi earlier on March 26.

Former Odisha Cricket Association secretary Asirbad Behera, Amateur Baseball Federation of India (ABFI) president Pankaj Lochan Mohanty, Baseball Association of Odisha (BAO) president Vijay Khandelwal and secretary Sibananda Pradhan were present on the occasion. Men and women teams from 24 states have joined the championship.

MEN:
Punjab bt Assam 13-0; Uttarakhand bt Bihar 12-0, Punjab bt West Bengal 10-0, Chandigarh bt Gujarat 13-2, Andhra Pradesh bt Uttar Pradesh 10-0, Uttarakhand bt Chhattisgarh 6-2, Bihar drew with West Bengal 6-6, Madhya Pradesh bt Gujarat 5-0.

WOMEN:
Haryana bt Delhi 8-4, Kerala bt Rajasthan 10-0, Odisha drew with Maharashtra 2-2, Karnataka bt Jharkhand 10-0, Madhya Pradesh bt Puducharry 10-0, Karnataka bt Jammu & Kashmir 7-0, Delhi bt Himachal Pradesh 16-0.
